Hi all,

Putting together a spec for a Trinity based HTPC/PVR that will house a BGT3600. Only real requirements are -
  • Playback 1080p material with ease (potentially 'future-proof' for 2/4K).
  • Relatively low on power and noise (it'll be a cabinet with the rest of the AV gear but quieter the better).
  • Reasonably small case that'll fit in with the rest of the AV gear.
  • Handle recording a couple of HD sources/streams whilst watching another HD stream or video.

Otherwise potentially i'd like to be able to do some light gaming but it's not really a requirement rather more of a bonus if it could.

After reading enough Trinity builds and reviews, i've put together the following -

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD A10-5700 3.40GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Quad Core Processor **FREE SIMCITY PC GAME** (AD5700OKHJBOX) £95.99
1 x MSI A75IA-E53 AMD A75 Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard £69.95
1 x Corsair Memory Vengeance Blue Low Profile 8GB DDR3 2133 MHz
1 x Intel 330 Series 60GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - Retail £64.99
1 x Silverstone Milo ML03 HTPC Case - Black (SST-ML03B) £56.99
1 x Scythe SCBSK-2100 Big Shuriken 2 Rev.B Low Profile CPU Cooler
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 430w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020058-UK) £39.98

And the plan would be to run either WMC7 or Media Portable on W7 and create a scheduled batch/powerscript to either directly transfer the recordings to a NAS box or encode (x264?) and transfer to the NAS box (hence the small SSD).

Firstly, can anyone see any glaring issues with the above spec and plan?

And secondly, have i over-engineered the spec and is there anywhere i could potentially save a few pounds?

Cheers for any help :)

Apologies for the bumping of the thread but could someone have a quick look at the spec and let me know if there are any issues before i press the 'buy' button? :)

Didn't realise the A10-5700 came with a cooler and if noise isn't too much of an issue with it then that saves a few pounds.

Thanks Deuce!
