I've just ordered a 6450 for the computer that will be a stop-gap htpc until I can sort a more elegant solution (needed the HDMI out). It's a Q6600 system with 4gb ram on a Gigabyte P35 board.
Now at the moment it's pretty overspecced (and oversize, being in a midi-tower) to function as the htpc. My question is whether it's worth getting an M-atx board for the cpu/ram/psu/gpu and putting it in a smaller case, or whether it would be better to just bite the bullet and go full htpc spec? It will only be used for XBMC, and 3D bluray rips are likely to be the most difficult thing it has to handle.
Is a Q6600/DDR2 ram even worth anything these days? I'd kinda like to reuse what I have if it's not worth selling. Unless the logistics/leccy usage just aren't worth it.
