Hello all, I was wondering if there are any good HD Tuners that have a Satellite connection for a HTPC that will pick up basically all the channels Freesat does, but on Windows Media Centre? I'm just now starting to investigate a HTPC setup so any advice/help on this would be greatly appreciated, as perhaps theres an easier way of doing this such as streaming the channels through Media Centre over the internet etc, but anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

I wasnt entirely sure where to put this thread, so I figured i'd put it here where there are some other HTPC threads

Compro S350 or similar should suffice, but having suffered poor cards before, I'd consider the Hauppauge Nova-HD-S2 (or other Hauppauge - this was just picked from their site randomly) and weigh up the risk. Given the hauppauge is 4 times the price, I'd probably take a chance on the Compro. Any satellite card that supports HD should receive all freesat channels. So long as the drivers are there, they're all pretty much the same. The reason I say it's a little risk is if the drivers are crap, it's a nightmare trying to get things to work, and needs to be reliable if it's to replace a box or the tv tuner. Hope that helps and hasn't confused. Also note I've no experience with freesat or satellite, but am basing this on freeview.

toying with the same idea

I want to do the same, but I would like to build mine around a case that does not look out of place in the lounge next to the rest of the AV kit.

the problem is that I cannot find a half height satellite card, that is my huge headache. If you building in a small case, make sure that the cards you wanna throw into it are all half height too.

I am thinking of the Antec Micro Fusion 350 which appears to have 1/2 height slots.

Looks like an old 80's VHS recorder... no offense. :p
