I'm trying to plan out my HTPC project. I've got most core components sorted and will pick up a Antec Fusion HTPC Case - 430HE Watt PSU (CA-060-AN). However, I'm wondering what I should get for the graphics card. The HTPC will just sit in the front room and playback TV/Movies but I want to connect it directly to my TV which only has SCART inputs on the back. It has S-Video on the front but that'd be just ugly if I had to leave the cover open.

Is there some sort of SCART adapter available for connecting a HTPC to your TV?

Check your tv's manual it should tell you what signals the scart can use, you can then select your graphics card to match.

Do you not have DVI, VGA or even Component input on your TV? You might have to output either Component or S-video and have a "to SCART" adaptor. I can't say the quailty is going to be very good, sadly if your only watching video it should look okay.

you could buy a s-video scart adaptor, just search the net for 1

if your tv supports a scart connection and your gfx card as s-video out

they look some think like this

Your TV should support RGB on one of the scart connectors. If you are any good with a soldering iron you can manufacture a VGA to RGB(Scart) lead. Otherwise a well known cable manufacturer will make you one for £30 or so.

I presume you are using this on a CRT TV if so you will need an ATI video card as they output the sync signal through their VGA - sadly nvidia do not output the sync signal so you cannot use a VGA - Scart lead.

this link provides wiring details.

I have an ATI x1600 in my HTPC and it gives fantastic results, even through CRT
