HTPC sound question

Hi,

I am currently building a HTPC the only problem i have is that the old dvd player worked as an amp aswell. So to remove that from the setup i would need the sound from skyhd box to go through the HTPC aswell, is this possible?

A strange question i know but thanks in advance for any answers

i think your skybox should have the red, white and yellow RCA connectors on it? if it has you can connect the red and white (L and R for audio) upto the line in on your soundcard of your HTPC

alternativly your skybox may have an optical out (toslink), if your htpc has an optical in then you can also connect it that way.

Not sure what kind of sound quality you'll get from either of these as i've always hooked all my devices upto an AV amp and let that do any switching etc
