Me and my bro have decided to get a htpc. Since we already've got an amd 3500+ cpu and 1 gig of ddr ram we thought about just getting a mobo, case, psu, hdd and dvd drive (possible later on a bd drive).

We want it to be as cheap as possible, but lots of harddrive space and a good case ofc.

We're getting this pc to play HD movies/dvds/divx cds, it doesnt need to be a fast pc.

Here's the specs that I was thinking about

CASE http://uk.nox-xtreme.com/pagina.php?id=98 (chose this case cause it was the smallest htpc case I could find and a remote control is included with MCE support)

PSU - I'm not sure what psu to choose, it needs to be quiet and cheap?

MOBO - http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=939N68PV-GLAN&s=939 its got an integrated graphics card, will this be enough to play hd movies etc? And its got HDMI and HDCP. I really don't understand, if its got HDCP or HDMI does this mean I can connect it to my TV (if it is a full HD/HD ready tv) and play movies in HD quality?

HDD - seagate 500gig

any recommendations/suggestions are welcome :D

Thanks.

hmm will an amd 3500+ play hidef? Just asking as I've never had an amd & know nothing about them & this one sounds a bit old.
My shuttle with a p4 3.4 with 1gb is just about ok as a media centre but does tend to stutter playing hidef media sometimes. Most notably the olympic games closing ceremony that I downloaded, truely staggering to watch in hidef.
Replacing it with my cheap as chips asus mini pc with a laptop grade core2due & onboard video it plays perfectly.

as long as the GPU/chipset is capable of decoding HD ,the cpu doesnt have to be very powerful as it is not doing any work
