HTPC spec help please

Hi all im finally getting my own man room

so i am looking to get a HTPC now im completely new to this just been doing a lot of googling to understand them a little more.

Would some be so kind as to spec me an entry level system that i could then possibly upgrade at a later date?

not sure on what budget i need for an entry system? im hoping something on the lines of £500?

Do you need a monitor, keyboard , windows, etc ?

What will it be used for? Are we just talking HTPC or will you use it for gaming/general use etc?

just watching/ripping movies to and live tv maybe some recording of live Tv if thats possible?? no gaming at all. not looking todo 4k but that will be hopefully an upgrade when i get a new monitor.
