Hi,
I am playing around with the idea of a PC/net player (eg Boxee style thing) but then I thought, can you use a HTPC to do this? Is there good software to run for this so it isn't clunky? Plus can you get the same software to act like a PVR so you can do things like series record etc. This seems like the idea setup, then maybe I could add on a bluray drive I assume and be able to play them, though iirc I will need a HD5450 to do bit streaming.
In other words is it possible to remove the need to have separate PVR, bluray and media box by having a htpc? I am guessing the software is the hardest part to this though. Reason is right now I don't have a PVR or bluray (only a cheap dvd player) and use my xbox 360 as a media extender, which if I am honest I really don't like as I have to use TVersity with it, plus the noise of the 360 gets on my nerves!
