Also, MS are making their own Google-Earth-style program with lots of high-res imagery and the 3D/graphics engine - well, anyone remember Flight Simulator? Anyone seen how fantastic the recent version is?

MS put up a job posting for a team manager, and in the job listing they mocked GE. Should be fun times ahead

Oh, and us NASA World Wind folk have the green light from MS to use their high-res sat imagery in World Wind....but we can't get the plugin to work. Any .NET coders around?

this has got a nicer feel than the others, shame it has only limited aerial photos (a beta side effect i assume)

For a start it's a spherical map so you don't get any distortion.

Why are you nutters comparing it to GE, this is a web-based thing

gMaps is still the better option in terms of business/address finding, but the bird's eye views and general interface of local.live (if you just want to look at maps) is far better, I think.
