Quick question.

The VDSL socket from the wall to HG612 - is it an RJ25?

Will an RJ11 do?

I want to move the modem and need a 3m cable.

VDSL is usually RJ25 yes. And looking at the back of the HG612 it looks like that.

Although depending on your faceplate it may be phone connector (name escapes me) to RJ25

e; actually now I'm unsure about it all give me a few mins :p

e2; I think it's actually RJ11 at the wall.

I think it's actually RJ45 on the filtered faceplate even though it looks smaller and the other end for the modem is RJ11.

RJ45 didn't fit (I've got loads of them), and I couldn't find any specifications on the internet, so I asked here.

I'm looking at a Mk2 faceplate right now that an RJ45 fits into, so unless it's changed then maybe you need to push harder? With that said, a standard RJ11 - RJ11 lead will work fine.

I have a version 1 and version 2 openreach filtered faceplate and a rj45 fits into them both. The Huwaei hg612 will only take a rj11 or 12 though.

A chap on the auction site makes them up with RJ45 one end and RJ11 the other, as he says the RJ45 fits the faceplate better.
