I've seen good things said about this machine, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy a laptop from a manufacturer with the name "who-are-we"! :p;):D

Anyone own one of these? My 2011 macbook pro is dead and I want to replace it but not for the £2k+ Apple are asking.

In exactly the same position (2011 MBP dying slowly) - let me know what you get. Not sure whether I can handle going to a Windows touchpad, but the rest of the Windows ultrabooks seem excellent!

The touch pad is my main issue. Its such a big issue that if I don't like the matebook touchpad I'm going to spend an extra £300-500 on the Apple just for the touchpad.

I'm in the same position - the only Windows laptop I've tried with a comparable touchpad is the Surface Book 2 (and the Surface Laptop), but they're pretty much on a par with the MBP price-wise anyway.

I've been looking into this a bit further and apparently there's a lot of angry North Americans who have been waiting on their deliveries for months. I can't imagine getting hold of one of these until at least late Autumn.

No

Turns out it was the i7, 500GB, 8GB (not 16GB) model.

Fine for what I need it for in work, but was told the supplier was given incorrect stock :/

First impressions, it's very slick. When you power it on from shutdown state, it quickly scans your fingerprint during the button press. So when it reaches login, it already has your credentials and logs you in :)

The built in driver/bios updater is fully functional. Typically I disable these on most machines as they're so clunky, but this one was just perfect and doesn't nag you.

I would imagine that it's not as hardy as the Dell XPS machines that we have. I'll only be giving these to staff who are super careful with devices (ie, just me :) )

I'll report back any other thoughts etc.

Only stress it's had so far is the windows updates (to 1803), could hear the fan ramp up, but nothing louder than expected, no one else in the office noticed the noise. I did have it stacked on paper at the time, so it had ZERO clearance. Normally the feet raise it 1mm or so from the surface it's resting on.

Luckily I checked the specs of the one I purchased from Fleabay as Argos had change the listing from a '...X Pro' to just an '...X' .

Contacted them this morning and was told there was a listing error. Bloody nice of them to let me know , If I hadn't noticed they'd have happily just sent it out all the same.

*actually they've just sent me a dispatch notice ffs

Glad I bought a Dell XPS 13 9370 now. Ridiculous how long it's taking Huawei to ship these out. They still aren't available to buy on their website in the UK.
