Tending to be right.
The ultimate take down on protein bars and ultra processed food. Joe Wicks goes scientific and markets the last word in Killer protein, likely to give you diarrhea, probably carcinogenic, may give you a stroke and it is all totally legal to sell without any checks

If a protein bar is that bad then what's is Greggs...

I guess the point is not to be fooled by protein bars but surely anyone with eyes can read the ingredients?

Greggs is fatty pork with a few additives wrapped in pastry. Standard sausage roll.
I think that the point Joe Wicks was making is that his bar like many is a dozen or so white powders mixed into a paste covered in chocolate and orange sprinkles. Not going to kill you or not right away. It is factory produced food and very little if at all looks like food at any point. You are not going to glean much from the list of ingredients.

Fatty pork is not healthy, especially when eaten in large amounts, as it is currently. It's not like it's decent cuts of pork either. High in calories too. And salt...

I don't see sausage rolls growing on trees either.

I agree totally I don't eat sausage rolls.

Whataboutism is rife though.

Whilst it is good to highlight that not all health foods are healthy. Wicks is probably doing it to grab headlines for people like the OP to get outaged.

Me outaged? No I never was.;)

I assume that you are a fan of such products so I will leave that there.

I'm not a huge fan no, it was more an observation... I mean you started this thread after all.

I was more amused by the missing r in outraged almost like being outed.

However I thought Mr Wicks made some excellent points even if a little clickbaity. Soylent Green here we come.

No, he genuinely isn’t. He’s a lot more thorough with his research and science on this stuff.

So who is he?

Chris Van Tullekan lends credibility on the science side. It is not just Joe Wicks populist health view.

Why does he have to be someone you’ve heard of before you can accept how he outlined everything in comparison to Joe’s take?

I would just like to know of this paragon of virtue. I have accepted his outline in principle however in comparison one needs to separate the science from the charlatan. I do not accept anonymous youtubers as particularly credible.

Also Joe was the main presenter but Chris and others were playing key support roles.

So a personal trainer who went to college but was asked to leave after not attending classes. Had body image issues and took anabolic steroids now desisting apparently. Has written three books and is a social media influencer.

I do not see a significant science background or qualification allowing him to junk Chris Van Tullekan or even Joe Wilks. Sorry

I don't know what this has got to do with Huel?

Crappy 'protein' bars that just artificial slabs of crap full of god knows what.....yeah, they are not something you want to consume a lot of.

It made a good title. "You'll know it's true."

Other than that they were mentioned in the program.

Deep down, moderation is key. Why I take videos like Joe Wicks' demonising certain foods with a pinch of salt.

It can be agreed that 99% of influencer videos can be taken with a pinch of salt which is why I was querying smiths video up the thread. It is people giving these guys credence when in reality they are about as knowledgeable as the general man in the street.

Proper food is what your grandparents ate and their parents etc. Basically a mix of meats, eggs, dairy, salads and vegetables. An omnivorous diet suitable to keep humans active?
Modern variations like pizza are on the same theme as are Asian foods. However Whey and high protein foods are more like animal food designed to bulk quickly before the abattoir. Little taste and no recreational value.

You seem to be giving more weight to Mr Wickes though who is just an influencer that managed to get on TV.

No I am giving Van Tullekan weight as the scientist Joe Wicks was the presenter but with limited scientific knowledge.
