Hi folks

I am currently in the process of overclocking my new Q9550. I have it set at 3.2 for the time being but real temp is showing odd results. Under a stress test core 1 and 2 and at 53 deg and 3 and 4 are at 36 and 33 respectively. I believe the lower temps are the correct temps as it is being water cooled and my old e8400 would have been this hot!

I am considering reseating the water block but its not going to be easy as the loop is fairly tight and hard to get into

Is there any other software I could use to test? Motherboard is a dfi LAN party jr p45-t2rs

Cheers

What are you using to stress the 4 cores?

Have you run Real Temps stuck sensor test yet?

I have a few deg difference in my two cores, i've attributed this to the fact that the heatspreader on the CPU is far from flat, and the cooling potential over the two cores is slightly different.

Assuming this is the case, the only solution would be to lap it.

Your problem may well be this, or bad/uneven block or bad seating (though unlikely).

Personally I use core temp for temperatures, it seems to be fairly accurate over the range of machines i've used it on, and I use Prime 95 (with two threads, one for each core) just out of habit really.
