I have no idea what on earth is causing this.. (just relised i put that above aswell lol)
i have a netgear router which has been working fine for past 6 months alltho i dont even think it is the router,
infact iv got no clue

Its just started doing it in past week, 3 days ago it was doing it every 4 hours, 2 days ago every 2 hours, 1 day ago every 20 mins, now every 10 mins :'(

Any help at all would be verry good,

thanks

Hi there,

Which ISP are you with and can you post your line stats for us?

On your netgears router status, click the show statistics button and copy and paste either the entire window or copy and paste 'Connection Speed', 'Line Attenuation' and 'Noise Margin Stats'

These should give us a better idea of whats going on :)

Your stats look fine, what model and version number Netgear do you have?

Also you using wireless or ethernet?

hmm theres nothing immeadiate from what youve said that raises an eyebrow.

Standard stuff applies, make sure your running from the master socket, all extension sockets/devices are correct filtered and make sure your routers firmware is upto date.

Ive not heard of any issues with AOL on DSL-Max recently :/

oo iv noticed when this happens my router has a orange flashing light which is normally green, the one right of the "tick"

the orange flash means that you are disconnected! as it its not synced

also have you upgraded the firmware on the router? the dg834 are renowned for having crappy early firmwares.

you can get them from netgears web site but make sure you know which version you have 1,2,3 as they are different firmwares.

iv never updated my router,

btw how may i be getting dissconected, i thaught routers was allways connected?

thanks

I had the same problem with AOL constantly disconecting on the ADSL Max service. Moved to VM and no problems reported here. No upgrades to router either

might be a wireless problem if your on a wireless network if not then it is probably your broadband line, it is sncing at the fastest speed so might be unstable, you may need to downgrade to a fixed speed service ie 2MB.

Probably best to post on adslguide.org forums about this issue they will be able to help more.

iv reset it a few times, plus i switch all my electric off at night so yeh it resets,

its not dont it yet today since 8pm, :S must have just been the weather yesterday heh
