Huge problem with my laptop! help needed!!

i have an acer aspire 5672 wmli laptop whiched i bought in october.
all has been fine and dandy, on monday watched shaun of the dead. turned it off, and on tuesday i came back from uni turned it on and i got this error.

Load Error! Press a key to restart.

now i have never seen this before. i tried booting from a cd, however this still didnt solve anything and it just formatted my hard drive.

anybody know what this is?

As you mention it's already formatted your HDD then I'd hazard a guess and say you're gonna have to reinstall the lot from scratch.

Are you sure? What CD did you boot from that formatted your hard drive??

when i got the laptop i was asked to create a back up disk, i used that.

i never got a proper windows xp home disc
