Oracle said:Turbos dont spool until exhaust gas pressure makes their turbines spin. For a large turbo the turbines will obvoulsy be larger, so a higher exhaust pressure needs to be reached in order for the turbo to work (spool)
Lag is the time that the turbo takes to spool and power and is measured against the rev range of the car
i.e. a diesel turbo spools at around 1950rpm, so there is lag from 800rpm (idle) to 1950rpm (at which point the turbo kicks in)
