Hi,

I'm really dissapointed with this SB setup of mine, and I think it all comes down to the UD3 vcore drop.

I can overclock to 4.6-4.8 easily and will load W7 but simply can't get prime stable with good temps.

I'm having exactly the same issues as these users > http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=265356

Is this vcore drop easily fixed by the GB BIOS team or does anyone know if I could RMA the board to OCUK and go for a MSI???

I have to run silly vcore to get a stable 4.2Ghz OC with a i2500k, so i'm down to under 4.0Ghz just so i'm ok with the vcore 24/7.

What to do?

Only you can decide really. Depends how long you want to try and wait, looks like GB know about it now and are trying to fix it, but it could just be that the power circuitry on the low end boards like the UD3 just can't stabilize the volts under load. I honestly don't know and I just got tired of trying umpteen different settings to try and get a good clock with decent volts. I was worried about pushing so much through the bios 24/7 only to have it drop almost 0.1 volts when loaded. So many stories about dying SB's under too much volts.

Plus I was already on a i7 920 and only went SB because of the higher clocking and better performance reported for the apps I want to run. Couldn't get that with the GB so paid a bit more for the MSI GD55

Cheers Biffa,

I've never had such an unpredictable unstable machine until now, I really thought the SB'k's were going to be super easy to OC.

And it does seem that is the case for MSI and Asus/Asrock owners, even the UD4 owners.

Do you know if OCUK will RMA the board on the grounds of vcore drop issues?
