Hugh's Chicken Run

couldn't agree with you more there. Really wish could afford better produce :(

I dont get this argument. A free range chicken is about £5. A single person could get 5 to 6 meals out of that. Thats £1 a serving, hardly expensive. It just seems expensive compared to the cheap crap the supermarkets flood the shelves with.

As someone on another forum said, theres something wrong with the food industry when a chicken is cheaper than a toilet roll.

Just watching it again tonight.
When Hugh was making the risotto I couldn't believe the people who said they simply took the breasts off the chicken and threw the rest away.
No wonder they're bothered about the cost if that's all they eat.

A decent size chicken will do me 5 decent meals from the breasts and legs, then I keep the wings. 4 wings from 2 chickens is another meal, plus the stock you make too.

I've been banging on about this for so long people are bored of me saying it but I simply can't believe people are like this. They just don't care

I'm no saint, I buy battery chickens but at least I do the damn things some justice.

I for one will be buying free range chicken after this,i`ll most prob have to cut back on when i eat chicken but i`d rather know that the bird had some contact with the outside world instead of stuck in a battery 24/7.

When my Granddad was alive we used to rear our own chickens, both layers and feeders, and by god did they taste great. Although I do have to admit that if I don't have the money to buy free-range I will buy intensively reared these days.

I couldn't believe it, the legs are so much tastier (and more versatile) than breast meat as well, and some people just throw them away?

I buy mainly organic and free range myself, a single reasonablly sized chicken lasts me a week (being on my own).

I'd rather not eat anything than have to eat battery chicken and chemically produced crap. You can't beat a freshly made organic loaf of bread best stuff ever.

What is wrong with you?

:rolleyes:I am a premium person and therefore eat only premium meat. What do you think is wrong with me??? What should I do? "I'm sorry Mr Random Stranger on the internet I will change the food I like for you"

Unless you are making an innuendo joke in which case that is perilously uncool.

EDIT: Rolleyes added to encourage people to notice sarcasm. Note post #46 stating something to this effect. Wow. I literally cannot believe people would take that seriously!
