Hi all,

I have just cancelled sky as I now have Virgin broadband and my plan was to replace the Sky box with a Humax HDR-1000S as I still want to be able to record programs. It looks like the Humax freesat box is being discontinued as most places are sold out and some web sites state that they will not be having any more. Does anyone know if Humax is releasing a newer freesat model or are they exiting the freesat market?

I don't have an aerial so I have to have a freesat box. Are there any good alternatives to the Humax?

Hi all,

There's plenty in stock in almost every high street retailer you can think of...are you sure you're talking about the same product? The HDR 1000S and 1010 difference is wifi only. You might be referring to the HB or one of the other lower end models?

The HDR-1010S is the white version. The HDR-1000S is the black version which is the difficult one to get hold of. I managed to get one today and out of 13 stores only one had one in stock.

I wanted one on Thursday and visited 5 different places to get one, no stock in any of them. Ended up ordering one from Curry's:( online (HDR-1010S 1TB).

So neither the black nor white one anywhere I went, not even the 500Gb version.

There is a new version out now the HDR-1100S although its seems to be the same unit minus the display and scart socket. I have read that it runs the same firmware as the HDR-1000S. It also has what look like buttons designed for a 3 year old on top the the unit.

So far I am very pleased with the HDR-1000S.
