This might sound like a really silly question. But has anyone ever heard of a device that can control the humidity in a room?

For instance, if it's too dry it humidifies, if it's too moist (I love that word! :D) it dehumidifies. So you can set a level and it does it's best to keep it at that.

I can find one thing or the other, but unless I am understanding them incorrectly, not one that does both.

LOL that may work. I have been reading about eczema (my daughter suffers from it) and it can be aggravated by humidity apparently. It certainly tallies with what we have seen over the last few weeks.

Websites are talking about keeping the humidity between 40% and 50%. Hence why I was looking for something that could work both ways.

O/P, have you found out what the humidity currently is?

I wrote a response before yours but it looks like I closed the browser without clicking submit!

Anyway, no not yet. I am going on the weather forecasts, the mk1 eyeball and the "feeling" in the air at the moment. Although I have just ordered a meter to monitor the situation and will document the results.

I can't believe no one seems to sell a device that's a combination of a humidifier and dehumidifier, apart from on an industrial scale. It's surely not out of the realms of possibility someone would want to have a specific humidity in a room is it?
