Had my pc on since this morning, and suddenly its just started to make a loud pitch humming sound. I straight away shutdown and left it for 10minutes. Just booted up now and its still the same for about 5minutes and now its got quieter but the humming remains.

Anyone know what it might be? I thought it just might be a component slightly lose or something?

Humming? Is it perhaps not one of your fans just on the way out? Can you pinpoint where it's coming from mate? Perhaps disconnect all case fans and then try re-connecting one at a time. :)

Its seemed to have stopped, now maybe very slightly still humming. Yeah originally thought it was maybe the GFX card, but now iam not sure. Hard to say where it was coming from to be honest. Got the side off at the mo all the fans seem to be running ok.

Just keep an "ear" out for the noise getting louder; should make it easier to pinpoint. But like I say, try the PC with as few fans as possibly needed and that should make it easier to find.

You don't have an app. that lets you adjust the GPU fan speed do you? If you did, you could use that to alter the speed and see if that alters the humming noise. Would rule out the GPU for you at least. :)

Download Rivatuner and go into "Low-Level System Settings" You should be able to alter the fan speed temporarily from there.

My hard drive makes a constant noise even though it is suspended in the CDrom bay with elastic!! I wish i could get rid of the noise!! Not sure if i could get rid of it.
