Evening all, looking to increase my home network speeds. Currently have a WRT54G running tomato connected to my cable modem. The WRT54G has my server connected via LAN and several 802.11 G and N clients connected via Wifi.
The main speed I want to increase is via my my desktop which is connected via a cheapo 802.11n adaptor and the server on the LAN. Currently I see around 2-3 megabytes per second.
I've considered homeplugs but I'd rather I could connect several computers without splashing out on several extra homeplugs.
I'm thinking of going for a 802.11n router, would I want one that supports Gb LAN? Reading around the cheaper routers seem to have limited WAN>LAN speeds that renders Gb ports pretty redundant.
Also could someone clarify if with 802.11g clients connected will 802.11n clients be limited to g speeds, meaning I'd need a dual band router, or is this wrong?
