Hunting Knife Recommendation

chortel,

It is a parang, multi edged for skinnig splitting etc, keep meaning to get one but it seems they have been scared off by this stupid government

Check out Microtech, they're the best knives man can produce.

Have to disagree on that, the majority of their line are auto's and tactical folders, hardly hunting knife material. And as they are a production company, they will never match a custom. They are good knives, but not the best, unless you want low-drag auto.

Far as good, and I mean really good production knives go, you should be looking at Chris Reeve, Strider, Emerson and slightly lower down the chain, Benchmade, Kershaw (bit ropey sometimes but the Onion collaborations are nice) and even Spyderco.

Step up to a whole new world when it comes to quality, finish and butter-like action with Tom Mayo, Greg Lightfoot, Tom Krein, Todd Begg, Ken Onion, Rick Hinderer, DB Fraley etc. I've missed loads out.

If you like the tactical look and want something to abuse, go for Strider or Dwaine Carrillo (real hardcore knives).

As far as the OP's request, sub-£100 I'd suggest a Fällkniven H1, fixed blade (no gutting hook but it's rabbits etc, so no need) and 3G steel. Pure quality.
