Hunting Rabbits

Snaring rabbits in the UK is legal but you must have the permission of the landowner and the use of self locking snares is illegal.

Von do you know what type of license I would need to snare them on White Horse Hills next to Whitburn and South Shields golf course?

The second one is a friends of mine.

My other dog (well the GF's dog) is a shar pei and she's not very friendly with other dogs, hence me letting her off where she can just chase rabbits and not small dogs.

I don't I'm afraid. Wildlife crime is not a subject I know very well.

Try contacting Northumbria Police on 03456 043043 and ask to speak to the officer who deals with wildlife and associated crime for South Tyneside. He or she will tell you a lot better than I can.

Cheers mate,

If/when I do buy and Air rifle i'll let you know when I'm taking it out so I don't get nicked off you haha.

Air rifle? Be a man, take a 12 gauge... dont need to aim so much as wave it in the general direction of an unsuspecting bunny family and let rip both barrels :p

Shooting rabits with a shotgun isn't really very desirable as you then spend tea time picking the shot out of your teeth, a nice clean shot to the head with an air rifle means nice clean meat and it shows true skill.

LOL.

Not my patch you'll be pleased to hear. :D

That reminds me, I still have my air rifle and must take it out sometime.

Make sure you have permission wherever you shoot and if you do go out, it is sometimes worth letting the police know in case any calls are received. Northumbria have a very robust response to potential firearms calls and it is quite possible that an ARV that will respond.

Having two MP5s pointed your way is quite un-nerving.

I know mate, seen it called out for a friend who had a pellet gun.

If you fancy taking it up white horse hills and giving me a bit of a taste for it let me know, i'll bring some good beer/scotch to "improve" our aim.

I know you probably weren't 100% serious, but just to be clear: Never, EVER mix alcohol and firearms. The fact it's "only" air rifles is neither here nor there. (1) It's stupid, and (2) the shooting community is under enough fire - pun intended - at present without people doing silly things like that!

Wait until you're home, happy and tired, with the guns cleaned and locked away before you start the drinking. :)

Also the fact that Von is a local plod wouldn't make much sense either, was more in jest :)

Fair play mate; as I said I suspected as much. Just no point giving 'ammo' (again with the puns) to the anti lobby by making statements like that. They only get twisted out of context and used against you later - ask Von! :p
