Evening all.

So in terms of Overclocking I am a complete beginner, I've not long completed my first build from scratch which went smoothly, So now am looking to get that little bit more for my money. I am after a decent stable overclock, nothing to major but just as I said, a little more 'ummph'.

Currently running.
i7 4770k @ 3.5GHZ ( default ) With a H60i. Idle temps currently 25c-32c in a bitfenix phenom with a healthy amount exhaust/intake

Underneath there is a G1.sniper m5

In terms of ram I have 8gb/ 2400mhz - this also does not seem to be running at the 2400 advertised speeds CPU-Z reads DRAM freq of 665, although am not sure it thats the right figure

Anyway, can't I just download a XTU profile (From HWBots) for my desired CPU frequency? From a submission with the same Chip, motherboard and cooling setup? And hey presto? Id be running 4.2 stable?

Any advice/ guidance would be greatly appreciated
Cheers!

1. Have a read through the multitude of Haswell OC threads / guides. (google!) ;)
2. Sounds like you haven't enabled XMP for RAM.
3. No. Not sure why folks even bother trying tbh. Every chip is different, regardless of system make up. The only thing i can see of benefit is checking what BIOS settings they run to get a general idea. Voltages will be specific to chip although you'll maybe get a ballpark figure for where to be and any BIOS tweaks they've done you should read up on before applying them yourself as they might not be applicable to you. (e.g, might be on chilled water with a bench setup so wouldn't be appropriate for a mild OC gaming rig)

:)

Edit - If you're only looking to get 4.2ghz you could always try the auto OC function of the board. It'll probably run slightly higher voltages than is needed (read -if you did it yourself manually) but for ease it should suit you fine.

If you want to do it yourself manually, have a read through the various guides and if you've got any questions just ask. :)
