Because my PC is so quiet, I have noticed a small ringing sound or ticking when I enable HWMonitor. I did not know what it was and only discovered the source when I stopped HWMonitor and it disappeared. Restarting it and the noise reappeared.
I have a watercooled Crosshair V formula motherboard with a chipset block, a CPU block, a D5 pump running at 2800rpm and a few PWM radiator fans on 800rpm. The only other sound is a low hum from the fans.
This occurs at stock and at all overclocks. It is intriguing to say the least and I would not notice it with any background sounds like from speakers. Has anyone got any thoughts or input on this? Maybe it is due to polling for information from the fans etc. I do not know.
