hi kids
been fiddling around with my first overclock - all seemed to be going well - but some max voltage readings in hwmonitor have got me chickening out
i have an athlon ii x4 620 processor and a gigabyte ga-ma770-ud3 mobo.
on stock settings, the chipset voltages and the gigabyte des section report min/max voltages between 1.1 and 1.4 - which are perfectly normal with cool and quiet bubbling away in the background.
as a first step i got it up to 3.25Ghz with a 250 bus etc. i manually set the cpu voltage to 1.375 in the bios, cool and quiet off. that seemed stable in p95 and the voltage didn't really waiver from the bios setting whilst testing.
i left hwmonitor running whilst having a wee l4d2 session and a coupla hours later i noticed the chipset had a max reading c. 1.47 and the des section (which i admittedly have no clue about) had max'd at 2.1 !! (amd max recommended is 1.425)
i assume if this were true, my chip would have already have already melted like a t-1000
so is there anything to worry about here? am i missing something?
it looks like i could push the overclock further, but i've currently reverted to stock until i'd checked it out with you guys.
cheers etc.
