HX 750i questions (Multi Rail Mode)

Hey, so long story short, someone got me a Corsair HX 750i PSU just as my AX 750 was starting to have issues.

After some looking around it seemed to have good reviews. I've put in into my Rig and everything seems ok. I've run some benchmarks and everything checked out fine, though the only game I tried, Shadow of Mordor, did seem to be suffering from some stuttering during some moments but it's been a while since I played it so I can't say it's related to the PSU. I'm re-downloading a few games to try them out after work.

One thing I've noticed is that the Corsair Link program has an option for "Multi Rail Mode" which is on by default. I haven't a clue about it and can find little info about it so far.

Now, PSUs are easily my weak point and I need to spend a bit of time studying how to get the best out of them but for now, would anyone recommend the best set up for this PSU with my current Rig? Multi Rail on or off and so on.

Personally I would only ever use the Corsair Link software as an observation tool and also I dont want it running continually all the time. Its had its share of bugs and so for me its great to see the PSU in a given test etc, but dont use it 24/7.

So personally I'd leave everything in its default mode and not use Corsair Link to tinker or change anything.

As for the single vs multiple rail, thats open to debate. Some are for single rail (myself included) for simplicity sake if nothing else and no worries of over current on a particular rail. Whilst others would advocate many rails splitting the load and therefore burden. However I would not be happy using a software tool to constantly monitor or force it away from its default setting. So I'd leave as is.
 
If thats the case (which I'm not disputing is), then the corsair overview for it words it very weirdly as a "feature". In its selling blurb it advertises "toggle single rail or multi rail mode". Why would it be a feature to turn off ocp? Unless I guess the default OCP is set too low for certain configs.... bizarre none the less if what you say is the reason.
 
Just found out a bit more.

"Although the table above lists the unit's power specifications in single +12V-rail mode, the HX750i is by default set to operate in multi +12V-rail mode. According to Corsair's reviewer guide, every HXi's +12V OCP is set to 40 A on each 8-pin PCIe or CPU power connector, and to 40 A on the 24-pin ATX connector".

EDIT: Looks like other corsair i units have this, including my own. Learn something new everyday. So as pastymucnher says its all to do with the OCP it would seem.

My AX1500i lets me set OCP limits on rails separately, I've left it all turned off (the default state) and see no reason to turn it on.

There is still SCP (Short circuit protection) and I'd rather let everything draw whatever it wants than have something not get the power it wants. If a GPU burns itself out then it was obviously faulty anyway.

Link is interesting to watch the power draw but I wouldn't leave it on at all times either, it's a CPU hog for no apparent reason. Often task manager will show it using 10%+ CPU just sat there.
