Hybrid mouse controller for PS3

That particular one isn't very good but there are other (cheaper) ones out there that are better, iirc there's one that's just got USB sockets to plug your own mouse and keyboard into which is proving to be very popular. There's a thread in these very forums that specifies the adapter i'm talking about that's only a week or so old, iirc it's titled 'PS3 controller adapters' or something, i can't find it atm though.

However, with that said i and many others would prefer it if you kept it to offline play only. It's widely accepted that mouse + kb is very much superior to pads for fps in terms of reaction and speed so in my eyes you would essentially be cheating if you used it online. The fact that you want this adapter to me indicates that you agree that there is a big difference and you would gain an unfair advantage against pad users.

[EDIT] Found it:

Have to agree with Streeteh, and you would be known as BarmyLlama the Cheetarama for ever.

Don't do it.

I agree with Streeteh + if you want a kmouse+kbd play FPS games on the PC, I really wish people didnt invent the dam adapters.

FPS on consols are perfectly fine! e.g. COD4 on vet on a pad can be done just people wont adapt or refuse to...rant over :P

There is a new split fish coming out soon, never used one myself though and probably wouldnt. This cheating if you use one is a bit silly , if people who have a wheel get called a cheat in driving games or people using an arcade stick for fighters? Not quite the same I know but is it that different?

IMO yes, a mouse and keyboard is by far better than a controller for FPS if you look at it purely in terms of how well it'll let you play. There are other factors such as the ability to just chill on the sofa and simplicity that make me prefer a pad, but if you were to compare how well i play with a kb+mouse to a pad in shooters there would be a huge difference. I have both a fightstick and a wheel and i wouldn't say the difference is all that huge, for beat em ups i'm actually better with a pad (though not by much these days thankfully) but i find a stick more fun and in drivers i'm pretty much identical with a wheel it is, yet again, just more fun.

Also, if there wasn't any difference, why do developers allow (and encourage) fightsticks and steering wheels but then disable mouse + kb in all but one shooter on the PS3? (and in that one shooter they have a filter so that pad players won't be stuck in a losing battle against mouse + kb players) When using a wheel or fightstick in some games you are arguably playing them as they were meant to be in the developers mind, both the madcatz TE fightstick and the driving force pro (and GT) steering wheel were developed with input from game developers, whereas nearly all shooter developers on the PS3 have chosen to disable mouse + kb, something natively supported by the PS3. To me that says a lot.

Not interested in playing online, that's what PC's do the very best.

But I wouldn't mind playing Killzone 2 on my PS3, but I can't, won't, ain't using the gamepad to play it.
