Hayup,
i have been looking into getting a card just for physx (am using amd as my main card). What card do you guys suggest? wanted something cheap that can do the job, and that will last for the next couple of years just for physx purposes.
cheers

If an AMD card is detected in your PC Nvidia lock Physx so you can't use it im afraid. Doesn't matter if you buy and own a Nvidia card, if the AMD card is present in the pc its an arbitrary lockout.

benjii- does look pretty sweet, that and i have just started playing borderland 2 again

LtMatt - i have been reading up on some hack that allows for physx to be used. seems to work pretty well from what i have seen/read

I would use a 460 with the hack. From reading around, people are happy with the performance that gives monkey :)

460 or higher that is but a 780Ti would be overkill :D

Old way of thinking is old. Hybrid PhysX can be made to work... but whether it is worth it is something else

It used to work, Hawken, PS2 Batman Origins don't afaik using a newer PhysX engine, maybe add MLL to the list too.

Up to BL2 can be hacked for sure, but you would need to check here whether it can or not, haven't kept up with it since I went 7950 CrossFire and couldn't fit my 9800GT in for PhysX.

What I will say is that you should be looking at a 640 if Hybrid PhysX still can be enabled as older gen gpu's(no matter being say a 480) will hold back newer gen AMD gpu's due to differing vram types/bus speed, but if you had one kicking about there is no harm using one.

Link to read up on is round about this page(for Batman Origins):
