Hybrid xfire for physx

I'm planning to go hybrid and use a nvidia card for physx with my xfire set up, with patched drivers obviously. As some of you know there is no need to go over kill for the nvidia card since its only doing physx processing. So I'm wondering will this card suffice then?

The manufacturers site says it does support physx.

There is a Palit GeForce GT 620 1gb for £35.98 at a retailer i wont mention.

This guy was able to get a very smooth frame rate with mirrors edge with an old BFG ageia physx Card.

Or shall I purchase a dedicated physx card as the guy above?

I use a 9800GT for physX, not done it for a while due to 6959>70 CrossFire, but recently tried it out with a 7970WF, still works using the hack.

Batman AC recommended specs for high everything in the game options recomends a 570 and dedicated 460 for PhysX, but it ran fine for me on medium PhysX, max everything else until the 7970WF gave up and required getting sent back, but at the moment it's still in with a 6950>70.:D

Simple enough to do, but I don't think it's worth spending a lot of cash as it could potentially be blocked again by Nvidia at any time and remember you don't need anywhere near a 580, the 9800 works just fine for me, if you had something similar kicking about then that would suffice.

The original physX ppu's are not suported in nvidia's drivers anymore, iirc, they are disabled too.

Maybe jump up to the 640, the 620 looks like it will bottleneck the system and may decrease your performance instead, since the system needs to wait for the PhysX card to finish the calculations.

Thanks for the advice guys. You really think it will bottle neck my system? I'm more interested in playability than performance. I seen a few benchmarks with people using a GeForce GTS 250 or something with a amd 5970 and they get smooth frame rates.

Hybrid Physx development is "frozen" as far as I know. The guy behind it all no longer has an nvidia gpu. The "official" thread over on ngohq has people suggesting a whip round to buy him a new one. I wouldn't bank on anything that fragile.

If you are set on using a dedicated physx card, I would seriously consider a total move to Green.

It's still working, 'genl' iirc was the original guy your talking about, new guy called 'P10-17000' has modified genl's work, I used the files just last week from the link in my above quote.

Metro, BAC, Mafia 2 all work fine for me using his files, you just need to delete some physX files from each titles directory.

For simplicity, yes go green, but to achieve the same sort of performance he has just now changing to green, he's going to have to get at least a 680=£150, assuming he'd get ~£250 for his two 6950's v's ~£35-£60 for a cheap nvidia gpu(9800-250) to add into his existing setup.
