on offer with steam atm,, is it worth a buy?,, reviews on the seems a bit conflicting

No its terrible  This is the same developer who threatened game reviewers last year who said the game is poor! Then they have a constant creepy presence on the Steam forums to jump on anytime anyone say's anything negative about their crappy game

The game has so many problems with the camera getting in the way & all it has going for it are water physx the gfx are poor overall controls are really hard work as they are so badly implented & laggy but the worse thing is it makes you feel tired after playing for a little while not in a good way either more in a this is just a really bad game I wasted my money on way :(

Do not be conned by the developers how much they care etc etc BS all they have done since last autumn is listen to the valid complaints & change what they can then release it as 2 new games when its really the same game patched/modded. The fundamental issues this game has are deep in the design nothing can save it.....................

John, maybe “You’re playing the game wrong.” http://www.destructoid.com/the-jimquisition-you-re-playing-the-game-wrong–185340.phtml

Hydrophobia devs: John, the random deaths, dodgy jumping, bad checkpoints, no saves, shoddy combat, crappy interface, and inane story are all part of the experience. It’s not the game John. It’s you.

:)

Saw a vid of the first 15 mins on utube. Looked ok but i duno, the women sounds like a pansy, there's a hacking mini game which i loath as all these types of games they have these minigames which just sometimes too troublesome to do in the time allowed. I hear it has fps issues even on good systems.

Shame cos it kinda looked like a nice game apart from hacking game to me. Someone above mentioned no saves and a checkpoint system, hmm nope not for me then as i hate them console gameplay elements.

I know its unbelievable the developers think gamers do not know how to play their crappy game so it must be the players right  The truth is they spent over 4 years making this junk & did not sell as many copies as expected so then they decide 9 months later to port to PC to try & get a few more sales......This could have come out on PC in 2006-7 but the gameplay would have still been terrible & the controls are really lacking kb+mouse especially is shocking & gamepads are no better.

I love whenever someone moans on the Steam forums the developer(s) jump on them quite quickly

I heard 360 pad was best way to play this game on steam forums, which is understandable considering these types of games are perfect for 360 pad and not kb and mouse as much.

My mate has this and says the water effects brings his 580 to its knees, he hates it, flying along at one minute and then 25fps anytime water appears.

He says it's unoptimised bag of **** and wants Steam to take it off his account lol.

He might come on and **** it off later, look out for Lars888 comments if so.

I must admit it looks kind of good but if it runs awfully then no chance of a buy from me.

Its definitely unoptimised for decent systems but its not the water effect that does it, its the particle effects like steam and fire at very close range which slaughter the frame rate.

Bumpidy bump! I bought Hydrophobia from bundlestars, along with a few others, and I have to say I quite like it. It seems lots of the initial problems are fixed, it's by no means perfect, but it's a passable adventure. 2 hours in and I feel I've got my £2.99 (that the bundle cost) worth out of this game.

The water physics are nice, if a little dated now, the camera is fine (like Tomb Raider), the graphics are simple and dated but sharp and defined, like Mirrors Edge somewhat, and it runs will enough on my laptop, which isn't a powerhouse.

There's lots I'd change if I were designing the game, but for the curent price, it isn't bad

I also got it in the steam sale and enjoyed the first hour or so of it. Nice water physics and didnt have any trouble getting it running. The jump ledge grabby detection seemed a bit off though, meant a couple of pointless retries. Worth the £2.50. Although I also got x3 for £2.50 so there!
