I was just sitting with iTunes on and one of the Halo 3 songs came on and reminded me of the Halo 3 announcement trailer and how exited it got me.

At the time I was so exited and I'm not even a massive Halo fan, just the music and visuals in the trailer really did it for me.

So come on OcUK, what hype 'did it' for you ;)

EDIT: Its late and I fail at titles, should read 'Hype that gets you going'. If a passing mod can change that would be super!

I remember seeing that Halo 3 one for the first time and thinkin "yup, thats gettin pre-orderd!" lol

Other one for me that springs to mind is the Gears of War trailer/teaser

The Joseph Kosinski trailers got me right into Halo 3. Only to find out the game was a pile of crap(I'd never played any of the previous Halo games).

Trailers and media hype can be deceiving, of course. ;)

That Halo 3 one was incredible, I remember when it was first announced then shown, living in a Uni house with 3 other geeks all crowded round my pc watching it :) No other game announcement has come close to that kind of excitement really.

Really did it for me, i was a huge fan of the original and no one i knew ever expected a sequel as the original was a bit of a flop. It looked so cool, turned out it was, yay!

The Halo 2 e3 2003 trailer. I was just going 'oh my god' over and over again. It's a pity the final game was absolutely nothing like it. Not even Halo 3 was anywhere near as epic as the scenes in that trailer. Bungie was far too ambitious in getting a game out that would've resembled anywhere near the footage shown, which was so scripted that if the player decided to stray from the path shown it would lead to dead ends and void zones or game-stopping errors.

ODST is basically what Halo 2 should've been.

There's two adverts which really stick in my mind as awesome:

The Halo 3 announcement trailer, the music was awesome it just looked great and after I saw it I basically knew I needed to buy a 360.

The other one was the advert for Zelda:OOT, it was awesome and made me decide to get an N64 over the PS.

Sadly this is the best video I've found of it:

The hype for GTA:IV was something that I'd never felt before. I was SO hyped about it that all I would do was talk about it to people I knew, if no one was around it's all I would think about. The first five minutes of playing it, after months of not sleeping thinking about it, were unbelievable. After that the game was meh. :p "I shouldn't hype things, I shouldn't hype things..."

Other games that I got mega hyped about (although not as much as with GTA:IV) include: Half Life 2, GTA: San Andreas, Crysis and now Modern Warfare 2. I think it's bad to hype games though, it can only make them worse in my opinion.
