My PSU has started making a low pitch noise, I cant really describe it very well, but its a screaming noise and is very annoying, anyone any ideas what it could be?

Alas Hipers are gaining infamy. However in your case it might just be an accumulation fo dirt, or the fan preparing to fail. If the noise persists even when the fan is stalled (I would never recommend sticking something through the blades so you can have a listen, something non conducting 
) then it might be something more serious.
If it is still under guarantee - discuss with the retailer the possibility of an RMA.
