Hi guys, we have a few virtual machines running on one machine. Unfortunately around 6 months a go the .xml config files were deleted. Up until now no-one has noticed. But I've had to shutdown one of the vm's this morning, only to be faced with an array of errors, mainly - "cannot connect to the virtual machine configuration storage".

Found this detailing what the files are:

# XML files

* These files contain the virtual machine configuration details. There is one of these for each virtual machine and each snapshot of a virtual machine. They are always named with the GUID used to internally identify the virtual machine or snapshot in question.

# .BIN files

* This file contains the memory of a virtual machine or snapshot that is in a saved state.

# .VSV files

* This file contains the saved state from the devices associated with the virtual machine.

# .VHD files

* These are the virtual hard disk files for the virtual machine

# .AVHD files

* These are the differencing disk files used for virtual machine snapshots

We still have the .vhd files, no snapshots (.avhd), .vsv/.bin only exist when it's switched on.

So we're missing the .xml config files.

Is there anyway to get the machines back? Tried importing with hyper-v manager but it needs the .xml files.

Thanks :(
