Hello there!

My boss handed me a laptop and asked me to setup Hyper-V on it so he can run his Development Windows XP Virtual PCs. I thought it would be a nice easy mission however from what I have read I'm not sure it's going to happen.

The laptop only has the standard version of Windows 8, not Pro or Enterprise so the option to enable Hyper-V is not in the Programs and Features as an enable-able option.

Am I buggered or is there a way I can get it up and running?

Many thanks for any help that can be offered!

You will need to upgrade to Pro or Enterprise in order to be able to use Hyper-V. You can do an in place upgrade to Pro using the add features facility, which has replaced the "Anytime Upgrade" from previous versions.
