Well I went to install Hyper V on Windows 8.1 Pro to find I haven't got SLAT for my CPU... Damn, so time to finally think about a change.

Currently have
Intel Q9550 not overclocked
Noctua HSF
Gigabyte P5Q Pro
4GB Corsair RAM
Ati HD5870 graphics card.

Enough disks to shake a stick at..

So what am I looking for these days, well I don't game anymore. Looking for a Hyper-V work horse so I can skill up again in 2012, Exchange 2010 etc.

Considering a barebones I5 4670k, Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 and 16GB RAM.

Any thoughts? Haven't looked at AMD for circa 10 years.

Alternative is to purchase a VMware workstation or download virtual box.

I have thought about installing ESXi, but a bit pointless I think.

Budget I think circa £400

Bit warey re Haswell though as indications are that they aren't SLAT compatible.
