Hyper-V question

Is anyone able to answer this for me?

In a VMWare ESX environment I can perform a VMotion between differing CPU revisions using EVC (Enhanced VMotion Compatibility) to mask off the feature sets of the newer CPU. Say for example between an HP Proliant G7 and G8.

I have a Hyper-V 3 solution sat in front of me that's on G7 servers and was wondering if similar functionality exists within Hyper-V to do a similar thing using Live Migration. I can't get G7 servers any more so would need to purchase a G8.

Does something similar to EVC exist or does it not matter with Hyper-V?

As this is on a per-vm basis with no options of what instructions it's masking, I'm guessing it's going to have an impact on performance.

For example, if I want to do this on VMWare ESX, I would do it on a per host basis and for G7 to G8 all I need to mask is the CPUID. It seems with Hyper-V, checking this option dumps all instructions that are outside of the basic X86 instruction set (SSE, SSE2, SSE3, MMX, 3D-Now etc etc).

That's a bit poo actually.
