Hyper-V Server 2012

Microsoft give the SHA1 checksum instead of MD5. Here's what the Technet site shows;

Enjoy trying to manage your VMs on it. SCVMM 2012 doesn't support Hyper-V Server 2012 hosts yet, and probably won't until early 2013!!! You have to manage using the normal Hyper-V manager :(

At this rate, I won't have any hardware to run it in production until early 2013 anyway.

Tricky one to answer. Technically no, but let me explain.

Windows 8 allows you to add the hyper-v role to your W8 machine. This allows you to run VMs on your Windows 8 box, and, manage other Hyper-V hosts.

You can manage hyper-v hosts (2008 and 2012) in Windows 7 with the use of RSAT.

You can manage hyper-v hosts (2008 and 2012) in Server 2008R2 once the hyper-v role has been added.

However, this only allows you to export / import across hosts rather than migrate (which something like SCVMM allows you to do).

Also worth noting that you cannot run VMware WorkStation on Windows 8 if you have the Hyper-V role installed. I've got a workaround for that, it's a BCDedit which allows you to choose the Hyper-V or VMware feature whilst booting.
