Hyper x 2133 for i3

My mate just bought 2133 ram for an i3 3220( i advised him just to get 1600ghz)will this work or is it a waste on a core i3
His motherboard which is an msi z77 g45 does support the ram

at 1600?

The i3 3220 only supports ram speeds up to 1600 right?

Even at 1600 the 2133 ram is not a waste as when they are running at 1600 he will be able to run tighter timings than if he was using 1333/1600.

it will be much faster at 2133mhz than 1600mhz and it supports it fine at 1.55v dram

even my Pentium g620 ran ram at 2133mhz

Thanks for the replies guys,at the moment im trying to convince him his ram is a waste of time as its not running above 1600,and that he might as well swap with my 1600 stuff!!!
Thats what mates are for, hehehe
