hey guys dad and i each got a set of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-094-KS

we are both running phenom II 955 cpu's running at stock, at the moment we are running the sticks at 1333 speed which bios put them to that on auto 9-9-9-24 timings.

if i up the speed for the sticks to 1600 we get auto timings of 11-11-11-29
and if i change any of the timings to the rated ones and the voltage to 1.65 for them, my main board refuses to boot with a memory error beep.

am i right in thinking 1600 with tight timings might be too much for the phenom II memory controller, or my mainboard?

should i just stick to 1333 with tight timings or go for 1600 with very slack ones?

my mainboard is a gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P dads mother board is an asus am3 one but produces same slack timings as my one when memory is set to 1600.

well that is one thing i never manually checked in my bios, the t1 or 2 command rate was set to auto

and every time i messed with timings etc i forgot to switch it to t2 and left it on auto.

i guess ill try switching memory to right timings and voltage and on t2, at moment cpu z says im on t1 with 9 9 9 24 at 1333mhz.

meh worst that can happen is i have to reset my cmos again, ill report back when sober :)

If your motherboards support Xtreme Memory Profiles (gibberish for preset OC settings stored on the memory stick) then enable the XMP and it will arrange the speed, timing and relevant voltages as it should be.
