Got 100mb Fibre today, did a speed test with standard provided kit only getting 36mb over wifi....is that correct? Using a AC1200 adapter.

Try it hardwired and see what you get first, although that does sound a little low for AC kit.

That sounds like you're using older powerline adapters and that's what they top out at, plug an ethernet cable directly into the router and see what speeds you get.

Powerline and wifi are crap at transferring data.

Should only be used for a basic connection only.

For decent/consistant speed, use network cables.

Correct in what terms?. There's just so many factors that will affect WiFi throughput. That's why the first guy said test with a hard wired connection first.

54mb over powerline.
Almost there :p

54mb over powerline and 36mb over WiFi tells us nothing until you provide a figure using hard wired Ethernet.

I feel bad that you have to faff around and move your PC but it has to be done :(

Ethernet cable is the only thing which will and does transfer data at the connection speed. So we need to know if your broadband speed is OK using this medium before we start to worry about inferior mediums such as WiFi and powerlines being "correct speed".

Personally I'm with bledd. All this powerline and wifi stuff is just to make people's life's easier, not faster.

Seems reasonable for a 100mbit connection. So it's your powerline/wireless hardware letting you down, but it's also affected by the wiring in your house (powerline) and other interference (microwave, cordless phone, walls) for wireless.

94mb download and 98mb upload hardwired

Be aware that Hyperoptic are heavily overloaded in some areas.

I was one of the first connected in my complex (when they were doing the street and installing all the "local" routers etc) and it was blisteringly fast, after about 12 months, its actually pretty poor (and scrap their router asap if I were you, its awful in the extreme)

Any suggestions on Router? I don't want to spend loads as I am tenant.
Getting 94mb on wired as I say so pretty darn happy. Only two people including myself have it in our Block.

I am only 10 steps from the router, wire is doable but landlord is funny about cable running across floor looks rubbish :)

Buy a rug

10mb? What you on about? I paid for 100mb Fibre so that is all I need :)
I don't require 1GB that is overkill. I don't even have enough adult material to stream with that sort of bandwidth :)

I changed the signal strength or something, It was showing 20mhz changed to 40mhz via the Wireless Tab on the router.
