Hi there guys,

I've been pondering around the forums for a long while but never actually signed up, so please be nice.

I have been wondering whether anyone has tried using their own router to access Hyperoptic and not bridge the routers together as they prefer on their website?

I know people have in the past (more than a couple years ago after searching on Google) but since they have changed their routers etc, i'm not sure whether they have limited to what you can do.

I have ordered the 1gig line and will be using an Asus RT AC87U router. Would there be any additional settings i would need or would it just be plug and play?

Hyperoptic were persitent in trying to get you to use their router but after a lot of persuading they gave up.

It wasn't a simple plug and play, they had to give me the appropriate ip details for the non-standard router to work.. plus after a bit of testing.. confirmed the HO router is crap in terms of speeds.

Asus router with latest merlin build:

i assume the upload will increase as its still within its cooldown period.

unfortunately tried different servers.. and the upload still lagging at around 200mb/s

Also tried different firmware builds.. both by Asus and Merlin.. no real change
