I am using Win 2008 Server. On a HP N40L I was gunna setup WIN SEVER HOME 2011 hoping it's more linked with Win 8?

I was gunna get hyper-v or esxi? Then ontop I run my servers right? I am soon building a new server so this would mean moving everything very easy would it?

The new server would be full size 8x SATA, etc

I want WIN HOME SERVER and I was looking at ROUTEROS and have it as a router too. I am new to servers in general I like Win 8s SYNCing business.

I was gunns setup/secure these laptops also, Win8pro - setup software and tracking programs, updates then make a ghost image. They are ACER E1-571's

I would like to create user accounts on the server or something where I add a pen drive to a new Win8 and it'll add accounts auto. My mum for example can lock my sisters pc and Chrome is still open on a laptop or phone.

The server would handle

MEDIA SERVER and possible need for transcode
uTorrent / SABNZBD
File Server
CCTV system - iSpy?
Computer user backups
All of the priv data I would make secure like photos (RAID)
and some off a caddie

Everyone has a colour scheme that matches them. Maybe Win8 login screen displays that insted of email if a laptop was taken

Can't comment on home server as I have never used it. But I think the general idea is there for what your wanting.

As for Hyper-V/ESXi with a single server it will be easier to use ESXi. Just install ESXi 5.1 on the host. Browse to the IP of the server from the machine your managing it from. Download the client. Connect the client to the server. Manage your virtual machines.

I use RouterOS in a VM as my main Internet router, and am extremely happy with it. Handles my 330 Mbps connection easily.

WHS 2011 is based on Windows Server 2008
There's no new Home Server, instead it's effectively replaced by Windows Server 2012 Essentials.
