Anyone ever tried this?

Apparently it makes you more confident/relaxed etc. Obviously I'm not talking about starting at some stupid swirling lolly-pop thing, but the mediation one where you relax.

tried what? is there supposed to be a link
i want to feel more relaxed... and can it put you into deep sleep?
im suffereing from insomnia here, constantly feeling tired and cant sleep at night....deadly

Well it's either carried out by a specialist, or you can listen to recordings on a cd/mp3 player etc. Quite a few available on the net.

Apparently it opens up some sort of path to your subconscious and then effectively reprogrammes it. If you have things like nervous twitches during interviews, for example, then it's a natural subconscious reaction -you have no control. Hypnotism is an example of how you might cure this.

Well the only reason I started this thread is because I'm considering it also. Despite the fact I'm a really confident person, for some bizarre reason I get head ticks when sitting in very large groups of people (eg talks, presentations etc) although with normal social events I'm fine. It's VERY annoying. I think it's linked to being watched.

Its a very deep state of relaxation where your mind is more suggestable. You are aware of everything thats happening to you so its not like you wake up and wonder what just went on.

I got anxiety directly before my GCSE's [never had it before, first signs, A grades predicted so quite odd], nevertheless tried hypnotism, it slowly got better.. but i dont really think the hypnotism was worth it for the money.. i think i just dealt with the problem myself.

can i get a recorded tape or mp3 for sleeping?

I have been able to sleep better after listening to cd's late at night because I'm so relaxed. Whether or not it will work for you.. i'm not sure :(

They offer some downloads here, although I haven't tried them so I've no idea if they're worth the money.

Otherwise, you'll have to try the thing that rhymes with dime fire

They might work but they aren't going to find out whats causing the problem in the first place. The subconcious mind doesn't work against you, so if you do something like getting nervous or anxious then its for a reason. The subconcious mind is trying to protect you or so it thinks. The reason why it thinks you need protection in that situation is what you need to find out.

I know, but how the hell is my subconscious "protecting" me by giving me ticks in certain situations. If anything, that is doing the opposite by embarissing me.

Something could have happened to you in the past which its interpreted in the wrong way. I will try to think of some good examples. :)

Someone I know had hypnotherapy to help him quit smoking. He swears by it. I think there is a lot to be said for hypnotherapy and hypnotism, but I think it should be a last resort - I think you should try and gain your confidence and your will power, or resolve nervous traits consciously first (as much as possible), and only if you really struggle get a bit of a helping hand rather than a complete overhaul of your subconscious.

About 4 years ago, during the end of term service at school I knocked over a sign and had the whole school staring at me. Obviously it was embarissing, but if that was the cause, it took about 3 years to have effect, because I've only started having these head things since September, and they mainly affect me in these assembly/service things.

I can't say if that could have anything to do with it or not. I have a similar sort of problem and started hypnosis in January. I go every two weeks but am unsure whether its having any effect or not. Check the link that I posted above.
