Looking for a new overall PC case upgrade with the upcoming AMD CPUs, possibly a 12-core one. Upgrading from an ancient 6-series 6850 Intel 6-core CPU, currently overclocked to 4.4/4.5Ghz (4.4 vCore adaptive voltage, 4.5 static manual). After a lot of considerations I am currently considering the Hyte Y70 PC case, upgrading from a Corsair 650D one.
I have a discrete 7.1 Asus Xonar Essence STX II audio card which needs at least a x1 PCIe slot but this PC case seems to be able to only mount a GPU (in my case 7900XTX) vertically. This will mean blocking all PCI ports on the prospective new motherboard and inability to use it for my external audio card (which in return is connected to a 7.1 audio output to speakers currently). I have seen options for Y60 to horizontally mount a GPU, but on the former model Y60. The Y70 is a new PC case, anyone had success to use a 3D printed mount or otherwise allow the space for multiple PCI cards considering the default veritical-only GPU mounting option?
To be honest I am open to other PC case options, but considering the so called "modern cases" I am so disappointed that after all these years from 2018-2019, the newer PC cases lost their Reset buttons, activity storage LEDs, I/O inputs, 5.25" bays and what not. I don't care about RGB's although these are great and deserve attention anyway as they to a certain extent open the entire computer environment and bring life into it. In a way you get less I/O ports, no bays that you can use for basically anything, no storage activity LEDs, no power-on LEDs, much limited internal space for GPU and CPU compared to my current case 650D, even no PC reset buttons?! Where are we going? Is this evolution really?
I am surprised some of the cheaper PC casee have some of what I am looking for (but lack space, use cheap materials and are of very limited I/O's), but I'd rather keep my Corsair 650D than upgrade to a new one. This is why after days of comparing PC cases I decided to go for the Hyte Y70 until the moment I realised it only provides vertical GPU mount which is unacceptable to me since it will block other PCIe ports that I need for the audio card (integrated audio is still classes below a discrete audio card). I know I am a bit too pretentious considering average users just use AiO, and I want to use air cooling for my future AMD CPU + discrete audio card (I use a modified air cooler on my 6850K currently at probably more than 170-200W power and it still cools down the CPU to less than 80 degrees at any load and environment temperature so will not go for an AiO and radiators). Still, is there a way to allow for both GPU + the Asus Xonar Essence STX II simultaneously mounted in the Hyte Y70 case (with GPU mounted horizontally)? To be honest, depriving of/devolving from what I have in terms of standard but apparently dropped off features in the new cases, I at least consider the extra touch screen an upgrade from the 650D, but am still considering options and would welcome any suggestions about this case or others, for example the Montech King 95 PRO or the Lian Li 011D XL? If possible, however I'd stick to the Y70, just find an option for horizontal mount and keep my Xonar Essence STX II...
Thanks in advance for the suggestions/solutions!
