Happy New Year Gents,
Hope someone can help and offer some advice.
I want to build a gaming system for my son which will consist of a Hyte Y70 Touch Dual Chamber Mid-Tower ATX Case, I have @£1500 to spend on just the internals, also I want to be able to use it for work and maybe some video editing.

Also what would be better for the above Intel or AMD ?

Any ideas for the components to buy ? All help is much appreciated and Thanx in advance

P.s maybe able to stretch the budget a little bit :)

Hi dfour,

Thank You very much kind sir, if I were to extend my budget to say £2k what would you recommend to upgrade on ? Also forgot to mention in the original post that I have 2x 2Tb SN770 that I will be using from my Qnap Nas so that would be another £120 to spend from your list.

Eagerly awaiting your response so I can start purchasing

Just a gpu, ram and psu upgrade although all this is going to be wasted if your not playing games in 4K or really high refresh rate 1440p.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,928.92 (includes delivery: £0.00)

The 4080 is on average 50% faster than the 4070 but its almost 100% more expensive so IMHO isnt very good value.

Evening and Thank You.
I will speak to my son and see what he would like to do but I think your first option will be better for him.
I will keep you updated and Thank You for taking the time to help.
Respect and have a great day

Gaming system, maybe some editing.
X3d isn't going to be terrible for *some* editing, and will excel at gaming which seems to be the main purpose of the build.
I would go for the 7800x3d while not great video editing compared to the 7900 would still perform like a 7700x and good enough for the average user.

If it's a gaming build, I'm not sure why the 7900 is being recommended over the 7800x3d?

That was my first reaction but the 7900x is only £20 more and would be better for the video editing and other potential work to be done on the pc. Pure gaming build 7800X3d hands down.
