Hyundai Q320 any good?

I want a HD Ready LCD TV and it needs to be as future proof as possible. At the moment I will probably only be using it for Standard TV and occasionally as a PC monitor.

The Hyundai website seems to say that it has normal analogue TV, DVB-T, 2 scart, DVI but Im not sure whether it has HDMI. Anyone know for definate?

Does anyone know how good this one is? It looks about the sort of price I wanna pay but if there is something better I dont mind paying more. I also like the memory card and USB hard drive reader thing. The main thing I want is to have as much flexibility as possible when HDTV really takes off. I dont want to have to buy another one.

Any advice or suggestions?

This is the Hyundai page with the spec on http://www.hyundaiq.com/pro_spec_q320.asp

Does the ghosting mean its not worth getting or is it something that would be acceptable to live with?
Ive had my current LCD for atleast 5 years and quality seems fine I dont really notice any problems anyway so would that be something I probably wouldnt notice (Im not really much of a picture buff so prob wouldnt be able to notice the ghosting anyway.) So I suppose what I mean is do you have to look for the ghosting or is it very noticable?

Ghosting is quite obvious and doesnt need a good eye to be able to see it.

It depends what you want todo really, if you watch a lot of anime/cartoons then you will be able to see ghosting very easily. Ghosting is a big nono for gamings as it just mucks up your shooting >.<. It is possible to get used to but I'd look at different ones IMO.

The Viewsonic N3260w isnt much better either, terrible reviews.

Googling most of these 32" HD TV's I cant find many reviews so you might want to wait a bit unless anybody else has first hand experience in any of the 32" HD TVs.

You will notice the ghosting but to what extent really depends on you.. I sent mine back as I couldnt live with it.. Well that and there was a dead pixel in the centre of the screen.. :p

You would get this with almost any LCD TV maybe some are better but its only something you can judge for yourself... reviewers tend not to be able to notice it and just rave on about how good the IQ is... LCD TV's have great picture quality when everything is fairly still, when theres lots of movement the images seem to brakeup a little and the detail is lost... I'm not sure if this is a result of ghosting on not but it doesnt look very nice.

ive got the q321, the same thing but no memory card an usb slots. its a good tv, being used as a pc monitor mainly, and ive noticed no ghosting when it comes to games, player hitman blood money an halo with it so far. Neither the 320 or 321 have hdmi, they can handle hd stuff via the dvi slot though.

Shocky FM,

You have good eyes mate as this an 8 ms panel my 19" tft is also 8ms and i notice no ghosting at all on that. Gib786 glad you finally got your tv been following the thread on avforums :)

I should have my Q321 on thursday so i will let you know my views on it :)

Cheers,
Hugest

I got a Q321 the other week, a bargain for £600inc, its a wicked tv, better than models twice the price.

Ok,

Its here!!!!!

Just spent the last two hours playing with the new Q321 and thought id post my initial thoughts.

Initially i set up my PC via VGA input and to be honest i was a bit dissapointed over vga the whites are so bright they almost hurt your eyes and make you blink!! A little adjusting made this better but still not as good as my dedicated 19" tft. However on a more positive note no dead or stuck pixels!!! :D :D The size as a computer monitor was just immense. I had to fire up oblivion for a quick test and WOW it was so immersive.

OK then the acid test the reason I had pc connected to vga and not DVI was i just had the new telewest TVDRIVE installed last saturday. Connected the set via an HDMI to DVI Cable and  OMFG!!!!!!! The picture quality is absolutely gobsmacking!!!!! I can not stress how good this tv is as with a HIDEF source. Even Sitting only about 2-3 feet from the screen the BBC Preview channel is amazing.

May try the component output from the TVDRIVE and try the PC over DVI when i can pick up some cables. The speakers also while they are ok and loud for an LCD TV for the full effect you really need surround sound.

I rate this TV at about 4.5 out of 5 so far.

ROLL ON THE WORLD CUP!!!!!

Cheers,
Hugest

Wicked aint it. My MCE PC via DVI is amazing, even SD stuff looks great.

Make sure your firmware is 3.12 as the shipping version of many screens has subtitle problems etc on the intergrated tuner.

Mate of mine bought one of these last week. I was very surprised how good the picture quality was both on Scart from an NTL box and Component from an XBox 360 in HD mode. I couldn't see any ghosting using the Xbox.

Only niggle is the speakers are a bit tinny but for £600 you can afford to buy an AV amp and it still work out cheaper than one of the big name 32's.

Early 321's with the DVI port do have issues when used with some PC's, although a firmware fix is in the pipeline. The later batches of the 321 have a HDMI port in place of DVI.

Hi,

Yep thats correct Orifice only the A321 had problems with the DVI. No problems at all reported with the DVI on the Q320 or Q321.

Cheers,

Ok wow I didnt realise this was gonna get such good reviews. I think I probably will get it.
As I dont know much about HDTV can someone jsut confirm that it is possible to link a DVI TV to, for example, a HDMI DVD Player. Do all you need is the cable and that it or is it a different signal?

Also is the resolution 1366x768 good for normal websurfing and stuff as a computer monitor?

Thanks again
Paul

All you need is an hdmi to dvi cable, they dont cost much. You'll also need a couple of phono leads for the sound if you want to use the tv's built in speakers.

The res is not bad for browsing, but i wouldnt want to sit too close to it.
