Has this just come up at OC?

(Badass do you have a review, i can't find one, but thought i'd ask anyway?)

:)

Really?

How strange!

Hopefully Badass can shed some light, maybe its that new, 1st time i've seen it and TBH, looks like a really good alternative to the Acer, which has been the only WS TFT in its price range, about time it got some competition.

There is the viewsonic VA1912W as which has DVI-D but is quite ugly

Its that ugly i dont even consider it an option! :p :D

Which is strange of VS who make some good looking TFT's.

You in the hunt for a TFT i take it, what specs you looking for?

I started looking about myself a few month ago, then went and spent the money on a Trek 6500, now that's paid off, am looking again.

Spec:

Has to be 19" or more

Not bothered about 16:9 or 4:3, either will do.

Pref 16.7m colours

pref a DVI-D input

500:1 CR +

8ms repsponse or lower.

£As cheap as possible, £250 max out limit.

I quite like the Viewsonic VX2025, but at £300 its out of my price range.

But it has the following on the Acer.

20" instead of 19"
16.7m instead of 16.2m
800:1 instead of 500:1
DVI input

Is that worth an extra £135? (could nearly get two!)

Im looking for a 19" widescreen, I was gonna get a standard 19" but my brother persuaded me to get a widescreen. I would prefer to have DVI.My Price limit is around £200 max. the Viewsonic basically fits my requirements apart from being really ugly. Anyone got one of these in real life to see if really is that ugly or just that is a very unflattering picture of it.

That is a new model! Not even listed on Hyundai's site!? weird.

Anyway, from the spec, it looks very much like it's using the CMO TN Film panel as used in the Acer 1916W and Viewsonic VA1912W (amongst others). There aren't many panels made in the 19"WS sector, and so the specs are a bit fo a giveaway. Should offer comparable performance to the other models, and those are both popular around here. I'd be wary of the colour depth specs. It is still a TN Film panel, and so is still a 6 bit dithered colour depth. Some modern TN Film panels are capable of producing 16.7 million colours, but some others are just listed incorrectly. This has been a common mistake for years with TN Film, and given that the CMO panel itself is listed as 16.2 million (as is the Acer and Viewsonic models) i'd be inclined to think that Hyundai have made a mistake in the spec in that area.

Alreet?

Aye, i've checked on another site and its listed as 16.2, so it might be a mistake.

But its good news still though people can have some choice in that price bracket against the fab Acer.

Am pretty much liking a 20" WS for about £300, its just not worth it but i dont care.

Belinea 102035W

Or

Viewsonic VX2025

Hmmm? (as in howay Badass, decide for me already will yer?) ;)

:D The Belinea and Viewsonic listed both use the same panel, but the Viewsonic offers better colour reproduction out of the box which is a good point. It also has a better design and build quality imo, so i think if it were me, the Viewsonic would be my choice there

Was 60% VS, simply as their 4:3 range appealed to me at an earlier date when looking about at TFT's, good looking panels.

Plus its got an award thingy on OC site :) always helps.

Ta.

If all the 19" widescreen models are the TN film 16.2 colour panels does anyone know if DVI makes much of a difference to them because Id much rather go for the Hyundai or the Acer as they look so much nicer than the ugly viewsonic!

DVI doesn't impact colour depth, it only serves to make the image sharper in some cases. It's just a pure digital end to end connection without the need to convert the signal to analogue on the way as using VGA would. On some models it can help a little but it realy does vary from one model to the next. A lot of modern screens you'd be very hard pressed to tell the difference between a good VGA and a DVI connection

tough call. I'd recommend deciding which one you like the looks of more as i think that is important. Given that performance is going to be very comparable, it makes things a bit easier to decide. But that part is down to taste

I think Ill go for the Acer then as that weird Silver button on the hyundai and the fact no one seems to know anything about it put me off, thanks for your help by the way :D

Brand new product which OCUK had stock from the first batch.

Will be on the hyundai website soon, but the site is run from Korea so they can be a little slow sometimes uploading European product.

well in the end I went a bit Crazy and bought The OCUK value HAnns G one as I liked the look of it and it was a bit cheaper :p
