HZ27WC Glass: Backlight Bleed - RMA it?

Hello, after being initially chuffed with my HZ27WC Glass, no dead pixels or dust, minimal buzzing on whites I became concerned with the prounced backlight bleed which compromised the blacks across the top and top left of the screen.

Here's a picture, the monitor is the only light source in the room, what are your thoughts?

What should i do? Return it under Distance Regulater Selling act, which seems a lot less no-nonsense than trying to RMA it through Hazro... (Bought at OCUK, arrived last Friday).

Is this bleed par of the course with these IPS panels or is this a shocking example?

Im not sure what to do... Opinions?

Just going to test this on my HP w2408h for a comparison.

Update:

The back light is not comming through as much as yours. At that price I wouldn't expect that to be honest, but other people with that monitor may be able to clarify

Adam, I think your brightness is set to max, try bringing it down to 70% - 50%. Its not normal to have brightness at 100%.

Also the angle you take the pic seems to make a big difference.. I can see bleed, if Im above/below the monitor (above eye level),

Here is mine, (Glass WC) at about 60% brightness.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

This is looking straight on.. (if you can make the monitor out in the pic)

TY for the input so far, the first picture is actually at 10/15% brightness and pretty level.

Here is another picture at 100% brightness (toggled with the buttons not nvidia control panel)

I have to say Suj the difference between our two HZ27WC Glass looks pretty damning...

Bleed is hit and miss because it has LED edge lit 'backlighting'. It well known for causing uneven backlighting. Some are fine (My HZ27WA is perfect for example) but it's much more hit and miss than CCFL backlighting is.

Not just a hazro thing, any LED edge lit monitor can suffer issues like this.

also, mine isn't as dark as that pic makes u believe. its taken with orange sanfrancisco, which has a rubbish camera! :)

its fairly bright, but I supose fairly uniformly bright.

Adam here are three pics of my WA. ECO @ 50 and Brightness @ 42.

Black screen using DeadPixelBuddy

First shot is straight on, shots two and three showing effect of "IPS glow" when viewed from an angle. IPS glow is normal. I would consider my screen backlighting to be pretty good.

TBH your pic look very over exposed and I have also over exposed a shot to show how my screen looks.

Looks normal to me.

Camera pictures cant be compared because the exposure will vary between each picture.

RMA is a waste of time, monitors are just big lights so it is inevitable that they will provide light in a dark room.n

Hi,

I thought it better to resuscitate this thread than start a new one.

I have recently bought this screen from OCUK. I returned the first panel as it had a white vertical line, almost like a crease, about a quarter of the way across on the left hand side. There was was virtually no backlight bleed.

The replacement arrived yesterday. It has, compared to the first monitor and by any standard, a massive amount of backlight bleed, but no white creases. The entire top left corner is a bleed zone, with a moderate spill in the top right and noticeable bleed in the bottom corners.

Here's a photo:

I'm not really happy and thought I'd post it here to get comments and opinions. I plan on returning this - arranging return probably tomorrow. Are there any equivalent monitors in the price bracket of this Hazro which offer decent LED/IPS displays? I'd be willing to downgrade in screen real estate to a 23-4" (and 1920x1080) if it means I avoid the issues mentioned above.

Fast losing faith in this never-heard-of-before Hazro outfit.
